    Emission Testing In New Zealand

We all know that something needs to be done about the current emission levels of our vehicle fleet. A recent investigation that we from Emission Testing NZ Ltd have completed on behalf of the Ministry of transport (MOT), Auckland Regional Transport Authority, Broken Car Collection company and the Auckland Regional Council (ARC) proved that all of us where not wrong. Do not get me wrong, we are not green or else political motivated, we just live in the same country as you do and we have children.
The project that we were asked to do was, to tail pipe test the emissions of end of life vehicles. These were all running vehicles which were either rejected a warrant of fitness or disposed of by vehicle owners for various reasons. The 'end of life vehicle' project group bought these vehicles from their owners in exchange for a public transport voucher.
The results shocked even the most hardened petrol head. Some of the values where literally off the measurable scale. The percentage of failed vehicles was in no way related to the current WoF visual inspection standard currently performed on all vehicles.

The two test lanes set up in a large Auckland warehouse.
A full report on the tests will be available as soon as the Ministry's staticians have finished with it. Please believe me the results were far below any imaginable standard, yet the vehicles were generally in seemingly reasonable condition.

One of the inspectors enters the emission results in the data base for the Ministry of Transport and the ARC.

Many work shops in New Zealand want to do the right thing, so do many of our customers. Emission testing is the one change we have to boost the perception the public has of our industry, Clean and Professional.

Emission testing is not impossible nor is it expensive...
