The electronics in the tester will sense the weight on the platform. A weight on the platform of more than a certain (adjustable) weight will actuate the test. If during vehicle manoeuvring or persons walking through the workshop only one platform is actuated the test will not commence.
Also will the test not commence if the platforms are not actuated for long enough (drive over).
Both the above adjustable conditions are also safety features of the machine.
The electronics in the tester is combining the static weight of the vehicle with the brake force to come to a brake efficiency reading in the brake tester results, more on this in a later chapter.
