4.7) Smart electronics

As stated before, the electronics in the tester is combining the static weight of the vehicle with the brake force to come to a brake efficiency reading in the brake tester results.

The car presence sensors in the brake tester need to be applied both at the same time and for a certain period of time before the brake rollers start rotating. This is a safety feature as otherwise when someone manually depresses the car presence detector bar the roller could start and harm that individual.

As soon as the roller starts a wheel speed signal needs to be sent to the machine, if that signal is not received within a very short (adjustable time) the rollers will stop rotating. This is also to stop the machine from freely rotating when there is no vehicle on the tester (safety feature), and used as a cut out programmed for when someone holds the foot on the brake while the machine starts to prevent tyre damage.
