The VTEQ 7000 is one of the most rugged testers on the market, it can measure brake force up to 40KN per wheel through its high powered 11KW 3 phase motors.
The frame is resistant to AXLE loads of up to 18 Ton (!). The softstart mechanisme which is part of the standard 7000 makes the startup procedure smooth each time a test commences, extending the life span of all components and extending the calibration precision. Also making it agile enough to test passenger cars.
The powder coated rollers have three optional surfaces, corundrum (chip baked paint), open cast welding, and closed cast welding.
Corundrum coating has the highest grip coefficient when new, but its durabilty is the lowest.
Open cast welding has as slightly lower grip coefficient, and has a moderate life span.
Closed cast welding has a grip coefficient of dry > 0.8f and wet of > 0.6f, and the longest life span of them all.
AECS and VTEQ prefers to deliver the machine with the closed cast welded surface, which is rated to maintain its grip coeeficient for atleast 50,000 tests. The test results of the tester with slightly lower grip coefficient are a fraction lower than the results measured on a tester with higher grip. The durability and consistency of the machine will by far outweight the down sides.
This 4WD model brake tester is identical to the VTEQ 7000-1 except that it has reversable roller direction. In the 4 WD mode (for example when testing 6 x 4 vehicles) it will rotate on one axle one wheel forward and one reverse, while measuring the brake force of only the forward wheel. The next test automatically the opposed wheel on the same axle gets tested in forward direction and compared to the previously tested wheel. This is constructed so that differential in the vehicle does not turn, to keep the joined axle (from the driven set) from pushing the vehicle out of the tester.
