European legal emissions inspection procedure with the:
Diesel Emission tester OPA 100 operated from the AGS 688 petrol emission tester
OPA 100 Diesel opacity measuring unit.
The Brainbee OPA100 can be used in combination with the AGS688 which eliminates the need to hook a P.C. up.
First the opacity test is selected from the menu, this activates the OPA100 into warm up mode.
The AGS688 and OPA100 have a radio module (optional on the AGS688) to allow communication with the MGT300/R, this allows the engine oil temperature and revs to be displayed with out extra cables.
Once the OPA100 has warmed up the technician can select official test or continuous test.
In official test, the tester will first perfrom an automatic zero calibration. Once completed, the test can begin.
The word 'START' will appear in the CO screen and a 10 second timer will count down in the O2 screen. The technician has 10 seconds time within to snap open the throttle for the peak opacity measurment to begin. If the revs are not increase the tester times out and simply goes back to the start-up menu.
Once maximum engine (cutoff) speed has been reached and a measurement has been taken STOP will be displayed in the CO screen, telling the technician to release the throttle and bring the engine back to idle.
After the test MAX is displayed in the O2 screen and the K value in the LAMBDA/NOx screen, indicating the peak K value.
The engine’s cutoff speed is displayed in the RPM/°C screen, and in the HC screen the number of the test is displayed
The test is repeated three times and an average K value is given.
In the next screen the inspector can enter the vehicle details.
And modifies or accept the inspector detail.
A print out can be made and given to the customer.
