    2.2) Leak Check

At the beginning of the day the tester will perform a leak check. This to make sure that the exhaust gasses sampled are not diluted with air as a result of for example a punctured sample hose, or other leaks upsetting the calculated lambda and measured gas figures.

The silicon hose blocks the sample tube intake

The tester will prompt the user to close the probe (a piece of silicon hose to close the tip of the probe is best).

    Vacumm check for leak diagnosis

The tester will draw a vacuum, the pressure in the pneumatic circuit is being monitored for a fixed period of time by the tester after the pump switches off.

    Vacumm check 'passed'

After the tester has seen that the pressure in the pneumatic circuit has not risen outside parameters it will class the circuit as okay.

This check will set the tester up for the day.
