It is also possible to take the engine temperature from the vehicle’s E-OBD system.
This is providing that there are no electronic faults in the vehicle’s own temperature sensor circuit.

Connect the (optional) OBD pickup to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector. Select from the screen the OBD option if it was not selected during the previous test.

With F5 (connect) the scantool is prompted to establish communication with the vehicle and poll it for temperature data.

While the tester is making connection with the vehicle and collects data the above screen is displayed.
Once communication has been established, the actual value will be shown in the screen for confirmation.
Click F8 to carry on to the emission test screen.

The screen will show all relevant data, a tester with the NO (Nitreous Oxides) measurement option included will show NO in the same screen.
