In this electronics age with its unlimited possibilities the computer is more and more an essential item. The assumption that fault code reading equipment will solve all problems is finally overboard. This equipment, no matter how advanced is relying on what the car (software) manufacturers wants to be available. In most cases not enough time and effort has been put in to the cars own diagnostic system. Plus that the amount of extra wiring would make a perfect fail safe system prohibitive.
